Technical requirements
The short version: the show travels with its own PA, its own lighting and its own engineers. Most venues supply less than they expect to.
What travels with the show
- Full PA, sized for indoor houses and outdoor audiences of 1,000–2,000
- Stage lighting, where the venue has none or wants ours
- Shure in-ear monitors for all four performers
- Two front floor monitors
- A sound engineer on every date
- A lighting engineer where the show calls for one
What we ask of the venue
- Load-in 3–4 hours before the show, depending on stage availability
- A lockable changing area with tables and chairs — where the group changes, warms up and prepares, undisturbed
- Stage lighting we can set, or access to your board for our engineer
- A hot meal for 6–10, served 90 minutes to 2 hours before curtain
- Water, and the drinks list in the rider
- 5–6 individual hotel rooms on overnight dates — never shared
The engineers
Donny Brown — sound
Formerly drummer, lead singer and songwriter with The Verve Pipe. He also produced the group’s 3MT25 record. Your audience hears the show through someone who has spent a career on the other side of the monitors.
Jeff Hayes — lighting
Formerly facility manager at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center. He has run a venue, so he understands what he is asking of yours — and can run your board or bring his own rig.

The drum track goes to both the FOH mix and the monitor mix, and must be sent pre-fader. One monitor mix only, run from the stage by the group. The only signal FOH sends to the stage is that drum track.

Stage
- (5) 4' × 8' platforms in a “U” facing the house — roughly 36' wide by 20' deep

- (1) 2' × 4' table at FOH — board provided by 3MT
- (4) straight mic stands, matching, Atlas bases
- (4) backless stools, matching
- (6) wooden blocks to angle the monitors
Electrical
- (5) dedicated 20-amp circuits — four at DSL/DSR, one at FOH
- (4) additional 20-amp circuits on stage if 3MT provides the stage lighting

Two notes that save a phone call
Monitors. The group used to carry eight floor monitors. It now uses two out front, because all four performers are on their own Shure in-ear systems. If an old rider is circulating with an eight-monitor plot on it, this page supersedes it.
Fly dates and long hauls. On dates where the PA cannot travel, we work out in advance what we bring and what we patch into. Venues with a house system — most performing arts centres — usually need us to bring nothing but the engineers.

In any promotion — posters, flyers, programmes, websites, social media, TV and radio graphics — please use the full name, spelled out: THREE MEN and a TENOR.
Not “3 Men and a Tenor”, not “Three Men & a Tenor”, no ampersand, no numeral. Full logos and approved artwork are in the press kit.
